About the Chowder
The chowder at Glenora is truly special. Leeks sautéed in whisky butter top off our creamy maritime seafood chowder with fresh haddock, scallops and salmon, served with our house-made tea biscuits, baked fresh daily.
Hart & Thistle Gastropub and Brewery
Located in Historic Properties, Hart & Thistle Gastropub and Brewery features great food prepared fresh daily. The term ‘gastropub’ traditionally means a public house, aka a pub, which specializes in high-quality food. The relaxed and comfortable atmosphere lends itself well to the surroundings, architecture, and style of food – “Come for the beer….stay for the service…come back for the food!”
In the warmer weather, you can enjoy the 200-seat waterfront patio – the largest in HRM. During the cooler months, the fireplace inside adds to the ambiance, where you can enjoy a nice night out with friends and family.
In the fall of 2010, the Canadian Brewing Awards awarded Hart & Thistle with a Silver Medal for World renowned Brewmaster Greg Nash’s Hop Rock Candy Mountain IPA. Check out our Brewers Blog at www.hartandthistle.blogspot.com for his latest hop bomb.
Chef Collin Stone and Chef Sean Kettley have created a menu that offers a Nova Scotian twist and uses local products wherever possible. Give the Steamed Local Scotian Blue Mussels a try! How about a hand thrown pizza or one of our unique pastas?? For the ‘Harty’ appetite, nothing beats a great tasting classic like Maritime Seafood n’ Chips. Served with hand cut sea-salted PEI Russets and house made tartar sauce, it’s sure to appeal to everyone. Don’t miss Chef Stone’s Jamaican Classic Curried Chicken, it’s an old family recipe! With a variety of beers on tap, and several wines by the glass, we’re sure you can find something to wash it all down!
About the Chowder
We’re proud of having served well over 3500 bowls of the Maritimes’ most famous culinary tradition this season alone. Hart & Thistle’s Seafood Chowder uses fresh local haddock, Digby scallops, clams, Atlantic salmon, organic herbs and award winning Annapolis Valley white wine.
This time honoured combination of exceptional quality ingredients creates a chowder that boasts the Best of Nova Scotia’s bounty.
Ironworks Distillery
Ironworks is a micro-distillery located in the old port of Lunenburg on Nova Scotia’s historic South Shore. We take our name from the 1893 heritage building we call home: a marine blacksmith’s shop that once produced ironworks for the shipbuilding trade. We craft our spirits with the same love of traditional methods and attention to detail.
Distilling by hand in small batches, at Ironworks we use only natural ingredients, as fresh and as local as possible, showcasing the remarkable produce of the Annapolis Valley. We produce vodka, rum, blueberry and cranberry liqueur, as well as eaux de vie.
To see what we’re up to, have a look around our site. Or even better, drop by our distillery shop and enjoy a taste.
