Twenty minutes outside of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia heading east on the Scenic Route 3 you’ll find Eel Lake Oyster Farm nestled in the clean water of Eel Lake, Ste. Anne du Ruisseau.

Each oyster sways comfortably back and forth in their floating habitat, over each wave as the tide flows in and out of this tidal lake.

Just as Nova Scotia Lighthouses have beckoned to mariners over many years, so too has the Red Cap Restaurant & Motel located in Middle West Pubnico, been a beacon for the many locals and visitors looking for a delicious meal and accommodations.

Chef Amy Scott uses fresh and seasonal ingredients to create the menu and her signature dishes influenced by classic Fresh Cuisine. In addition, we believe in healthy eating and knowing where our food comes from. The Red Cap proudly partners with our local farming and fishing industries by serving fresh local haddock, lobster, beef, chicken, pork and produce.

Start with a glass of local wine or beer, for an appetizer; we recommend the seafood chowder, a local favorite, or the white onion soup. For your main try our delicious Broiled Haddock with a Lobster Sauce, Seafood Lasagna or on the lighter side order the homemade Broccoli & Old Cheddar Quiche or Rappie Pie. Make sure you save room for our homemade steamed cranberry pudding, bread pudding with lemon sauce, or a slice of one of our seasonal pies.

About the Chowder

A creamy flavorful base with a mixture of fresh local seafood, mirepoix and topped with sour cream & chives. Enjoy our chowder as meal or appetizer.

Haddock supplied by Inshore Fisheries, West Pubnico. Lobster supplied by Salt Spray Fisheries, Argyle. Scallops supplied by Comeau Seafoods, Saulnierville.

Soak up the ambience as you dine on fresh seafood and sip premium-brewed beers while enjoying the Nova Scotia South Shore’s only microbrewery restaurant. Enjoy a customer favourite, Rudder’s Fish Cakes or Lobster in the Shell, on the large seasonal patio overlooking our private marina. Live local entertainment weekly. Cold Beer Store now open daily, which allows you to take home a 1.9L growler jug of your favourite draft or lager. Reservations suggested.
